Rhoads

No matter what you drive, you want the best performance you can get.
Did you know that just by using Rhoads Variable Duration Lifters with your cam instead of stock hydraulic lifters you can gain up to 25% more low-end torque and 3 more inches of vacuum? It's true. You'll even get a smoother idle plus super mid power and all the top-end power that the cam was designed to give.
Here's Why...
Rhoads Variable Lifters give you both...
Here's How...
At higher engine speeds where more cam really boosts mid and upper rpm power Rhoads Lifters work to maintain the full lift and duration of your cam for maximum top-end power. As your engine revs higher Rhoads Lifters bleed less because there is simply less time to bleed at higher engine speeds. Near 3500 rpm the bleed action has virtually disappeared, shifting your full cam and maximum horsepower potential back into action. For example, using a hydraulic cam with 270 degrees advertised duration and .450 valve lift here's approximately what the engine will 'see' at various rpm using Rhoads Lifters vs other 'quiet' variable lifters and vs standard lifters:
Rhoads Others Standard
At Idle 260 .425 268 .445 270 .450
At 2000 rpm 265 .435 269 .447 270 .450
At 3500 rpm 270 .450 270 .450 270 .450
Vacuum with a slight load
at 1000 rpm 11.0 hg 9.0 hg 8.5 hg
The amount of 'bleed down' creates the additional vacuum. When
vacuum increases so does throttle response and acceleration which is
what you feel when you drive.
Rhoads Variable Duration Lifters are also anti-pumpups and can add as much as 500 more usable rpm to the top-end. You can actually hear Rhoads Lifters work. They have a 'solid lifter' type sound all their own: a mild ticking sound at idle which tells you they're working to boost low-end torque, vacuum, and fuel economy. When the size of your cam is reduced for more low-end torque the valves seat at a slightly faster rate, producing a mild solid lifter sound. This sound gradually disappears as your rpm increases and your cam is restored to its full size for maximum top-end power. Rhoads Lifters are completely safe for your engine because they operate with standard preload and no clearance even at low rpm. In fact your valve train should last longer with Rhoads Lifters. That's because valve lift is reduced at idle and low rpm by about .025. This lowers the stress on valve guides, springs, and cam lobe surfaces. Number One for Over 35 Years - When you choose original Rhoads Lifters you've chosen a proven winner. They were the first variable duration lifters on the market and they continue to be the very best that money can buy. Their exclusive patented Accu-Groove design cannot be duplicated. With millions of Rhoads Lifters sold and over 100,000 satasfied customers including experts like Gale Banks and Louis Unser you know it's a product you can trust.
Rhoads Lifters will make the right cam for your vehicle even
better, but they can't fix a bad cam selection. A Pro-Street
cam will never be suitable for daily use even with Rhoads Lifters.
Use the Accelerated Motion selection guides at the beginning of each
engine parts page of the catalogue to select the best cam and lifter
kit for your driving and then upgrade the lifter set with Rhoads
Variable Lifters to get the best possible performance for economy,
street, or strip.
